Challange

• Identified all the processes and related custom objects that need to be migrated
• Used Ant Migration tool to migrate all the custom objects/fields and other dependent metadata.
• With the help of the data loader tool migrated all the data from Legacy org to the new org.
• This involved various workshops with the client to identify the necessary fields/necessary data that needs to be migrated and data cleanup as per client need.
• To migrate attachments, we used a 3^rd party tool by Connecting Software to integrate Salesforce with SharePoint. We used SharePoint as the data storage for all the attachments.
• Integration has been set up through the app exchange app by connecting software so that any new attachments uploaded through the data loader will get saved in the SharePoint and hence do not consume Salesforce data storage.

Result

• Seamless transition to the new org with updated data/Processes.
• The client did not pay for the extra salesforce storage hence reduced cost.
